Two $1 Million Prizes Awarded in Massachusetts

(AsiaGameHub.com) –   Two individuals in Massachusetts have recently become the state’s newest millionaires, each securing a $1 million prize from the Massachusetts Lottery. Lottery officials confirmed that both winning tickets were scratch-off games.

Greenfield Man Wins $1M from $5,000,000 100X Cashword

The Massachusetts Lottery identified one of the winners as Keith Poirier. This fortunate resident of Greenfield claimed his substantial prize from a $5,000,000 100X Cashword ticket, which he purchased at Sandri located on Federal Street in Greenfield. The retail location is set to receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

According to the lottery, Poirier visited a lottery office to claim his winnings and chose to receive the prize as a lump sum payment of $650,000 before taxes.

In a statement to lottery officials, Poirier indicated his intention to use the money for retirement savings.

It is worth noting that the odds of winning $1 million from the $5,000,000 100X Cashword game are 1 in 1,008,000. The lottery’s website indicates that this was the first of ten $1 million prizes available at the game’s launch, meaning nine more are still to be claimed.

The top prize for the $5,000,000 100X Cashword game, as its name suggests, is $5 million. There are two such top prizes, neither of which has been won to date. The odds of winning one of these $5 million prizes are 1 in 5,040,000.

Fabulous Fortune Mints Its Ninth Millionaire

Separately, another player won $1 million from the lottery’s Fabulous Fortune game. This winning ticket was purchased from Route 97 House of Pizza, a pizza establishment in Methuen.

Data from the Massachusetts Lottery reveals that this was the final second-tier prize of $1 million in the Fabulous Fortune game. Initially, the game offered nine such prizes.

Meanwhile, two of Fabulous Fortune’s three $4 million top prizes remain unclaimed. The odds of winning either of these are 1 in 5,040,000.

In related news, the Massachusetts regulator recently imposed penalties on several operators for compliance issues.
